A House Portrait from Union, New Jersey
by Jennifer Skopp
A daughter-in-law commissioned Jennifer Skopp to create this Watercolor House Portrait of this Union, New Jersey home. The house belongs to her in-laws and she was going to give it to them for a Christmas gift. This Cape Cod house has cedar siding and is the color of a natural wood grain. The front door is painted teal and has an oval shaped window. There are two dormer windows on the black gabled roof. Two sets of triple pane windows are each of the house. The one of the right side is a bay window.
To enter the house there is a staircase with four steps leading to the front door, which faces the driveway, on the right side of the house. The garage is set back a few feet from the house.
The garden is in front of the house and staircase. The lawn is in front of the garden. A free standing light brown mailbox is placed among the shrubs. There are decorative items placed in the horizontal garden such as a miniature hot air balloon and eagle, both decorated with stars and stripes, the colors of the American flag.
