A House Portrait from Fairfield, Connecticut

by Jennifer Skopp

A young woman commissioned me to create this Watercolor House Portrait of this Fairfield, Connecticut home. The painting was to be a wedding gift for her friends.

This is a wide, two-story house with white siding. The roof has gray shingles with six dormer windows. Each window has a narrow row of solar panels. There are five adjoining sections to the house. The main entrance section has a dark blue door and is the only section that has yellow-ochre stones. There is a large bay window. Three steps lead to a small landing in front of the door.

The section to the right juts out closer to the street. It has the largest dormer window. The roof extends a few feet out which creates a covered space. There are six columns that hold up that area of the roof.

The section to the right of that sits back several feet. To the left of the section with front door, is another section that is further back and to the left of that, is another part of the house that is even a few feet further back.

There is a long path to the front door that has light, colored, flat stones. In the center and front of the path is a standing, stone planter with a beautiful arrangement of flowers. On each side of the main entrance are shrubs that border the front of the house. There are several larger green bushes on both sides of the deep lawn.

The light tan driveway is on the right side of the house. A walking path is attached to the driveway that leads to the front entrance.
