A House Portrait Closing Gift from Mountainside, New Jersey
by Jennifer Skopp
This Watercolor House Portrait was created by Jennifer Skopp to be a closing gift from a pair of realtors to give to their client, who was selling her house in Mountainside, NJ.
This white home is an Expanded Cape Cod style. It has two floors. There is a brownish-red gable roof with one dormer window on the left side. The windows have gray shutters, including the window on the second floor, which is on the right side.
The black front door with a white frame is in the center of the house. It is surrounded by yellow ochre, gray and brownish-red stones. There are three stone steps that go up to the front door. A curved stone path leads from the driveway on the right, to the steps. The garage is attached to the right side of the house and there is an enclosed porch attached to the left side of the house.
The house is up on a hill. There is dense foliage at the bottom of the hill, which is street level, that consists of ivy, vines, and various shrubs. On the left side there is a beautiful pink azalea bush and on the right is a shorter azalea bush with light purple flowers.
Jennifer used the foliage on the bottom, as well as the trees and shrubs on the sides and in back, to frame the house.
