A House Portrait from Far Hills, New Jersey

by Jennifer Skopp

A real estate agent hired Jennifer Skopp to create a Watercolor House Portrait to give to her client, the buyer, as a closing gift. The front of this large, wide house has five different sections.

The front of this house has five different sections. The sections with the main entrance and the Bay window are covered with brick. The other three sections have beige siding. There is a flat, white column in between each section. The roof is an Intersecting/Overlaid roof, which is a design where two or more separate hipped roof sections meet, intersect, or overlap. The roof has brown shingles.

The first section on the left has two Single Hung windows on the ground level with black shutters. There is a Crosshead above those windows. Above those windows is a Palladian window.

The section to the right has the main entrance, which has black double doors with an arched window above. Three steps lead to the main entrance. There is a Dormer window above the door.

The next section has a Bay window on the ground floor and two windows above with black shutters. On top of those windows is another Dormer window.

To the right is a section with another entrance to the house. The single black door is underneath a roof that slopes down. It has brown shingles. Above that is a taller Dormer window than the others.

The last section on the right has two windows spaced apart on the ground floor and two adjoining windows on the second floor. All the windows have black shutters.

A stone path leads from the front entrance and turns to the right towards the driveway. There is a very wide and deep lawn. Beautiful shrubs of different greens and reds are right in front of and run parallel to the width of the house. There are several tall trees growing from the lawn.
